1) Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Hello Roomie, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2) About Hello Roomie

Hello Roomie is a platform that helps users:

  • Create profiles;

  • Discover potential roommates;

  • Publish room listings and used-item listings;

  • Communicate via in-app chat.

Hello Roomie acts as a technology facilitator and not as a landlord, broker (unless separately stated), payment intermediary, insurer, or guarantor.

3) Eligibility

You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;

  • Have legal capacity to enter binding agreements;

  • Provide accurate and truthful account and profile information.

You are responsible for all activity under your account and OTP verification credentials.

4) Account Registration and Security

  • Registration may use phone number verification (OTP).

  • You must keep account access secure and notify us of unauthorized use.

  • We may suspend accounts involved in fraud, abuse, impersonation, or policy violations.

5) User Profiles and Listing Accuracy

You agree that all details you post (profile, room, item, photos, pricing, availability, preferences) are:

  • Accurate,

  • Not misleading,

  • Updated when changed.

False, deceptive, or outdated listings may be removed.

6) User Content and License

You retain ownership of content you post (text, photos, media).
You grant Hello Roomie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute such content solely for operating, improving, and promoting the service.

You confirm you have rights/permissions to upload content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights.

7) Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse other users;

  • Post fake profiles, scam listings, or fraudulent offers;

  • Share illegal, obscene, hateful, or infringing content;

  • Engage in spam or unsolicited promotions;

  • Attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineering, or security abuse;

  • Post discriminatory or unlawful housing content;

  • Upload malware, harmful code, or deceptive links;

  • Misuse reporting/support systems (including false reports).

8) Communications and Safety

In-app chat is provided for user communication. You are solely responsible for what you send.
Hello Roomie may review/report-preserved content to enforce policies or comply with law.

Safety note:

  • Always verify identity, ownership, and property details independently.

  • Meet in safe public places where possible.

  • Do not share sensitive financial credentials.

9) Matching and Discovery Disclaimer

Any compatibility score, suggestions, or ranking is informational only.
Hello Roomie does not guarantee:

  • Personal compatibility,

  • Listing authenticity,

  • Transaction success,

  • Safety outcomes.

10) User-to-User Transactions

Agreements for rent, deposits, item sales, and other financial commitments are between users.
Hello Roomie is not a contracting party in those arrangements and is not liable for disputes, defaults, damages, or losses resulting from such dealings.

11) Premium Features and Billing

If/when premium or paid features are offered:

  • Pricing, billing cycle, and features will be disclosed before purchase;

  • Refunds will be governed by the Refund Policy and applicable law;

  • Abuse of trial/premium benefits may result in suspension.

12) Reports, Moderation, and Enforcement

Users may report profiles/listings/content. We may:

  • Investigate complaints;

  • Remove content;

  • Restrict visibility;

  • Suspend or terminate accounts;

  • Cooperate with legal authorities when required.

We are not obligated to act on every report in any fixed timeline unless required by law.

13) Intellectual Property

All platform IP (brand, logo, software, UI, text, graphics, and service structure) belongs to Hello Roomie or its licensors.
No rights are granted except limited personal use of the app/service under these Terms.

14) Third-Party Services

Hello Roomie may rely on third-party services (e.g., cloud hosting, messaging, map/address suggestions). Use of those integrations may also be subject to third-party terms and policies.

15) Privacy

Your use is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
By using Hello Roomie, you acknowledge data practices described there.

16) Suspension and Termination

We may suspend/terminate accounts for violations, fraud, abuse, legal risk, or platform safety reasons.
You may stop using the service at any time; certain data may be retained as required for legal/security/business purposes.

17) Disclaimers

Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hello Roomie disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted access, and error-free operation.

18) Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Hello Roomie shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, reputation, opportunity, or profits.

Where legally allowed, total aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid by you to Hello Roomie in the [12] months preceding the claim, or INR [1,000], whichever is higher.

19) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hello Roomie, its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners from claims/losses arising from:

  • Your content,

  • Your conduct,

  • Your legal/policy violations,

  • Disputes with other users.

20) Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by laws of India.
Courts at [Insert City, State] shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

21) Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms. Updated versions will be posted with a revised date. Continued use after updates means acceptance of revised Terms.
